It seems that the age of the mixtape is over for many reasons, not the least of which is that the "tape" is now obsolete. Now with iPods/iPhones and other portable media players being so common it is fun to make playlist of ones' favorite jams, be they slow, hard, melancholy, or whatever. I made my wife a playlist of songs that make me think of her for Valentine's Day (she loved it). I started clapping when Simon told him they were taking 13 this year. I've watched Idol off and on a few times, mostly because other people were interested; but this year is the first time I've watched from the start.
